Bullet button rifle with a 30 round magazine shell (no internals) legal?

Would it be legal to have a bullet button equipped rifle with a 30 round magazine even if the magazine did not have any internal parts? Meaning the magazine was just the shell and did not have a spring follower or base plate?

I assume it is, but wanted to hear some comments on it.

Given current sensitivity, I would compare this to concealed carrying an Airsoft gun.

IMHO, absolutely nothing good could come of it.

Ya this goes under the "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" for ideas. I could see the argument that if you turned the rifle upside down it could feed the rounds in so it is illegal and hence you go to prison. Wouldn't be the first gravity feeding device they have been around for years. Not very effective or reliable but still available.

asking strictly out of morbid curiosity, what would be the point of creating such a hypothetical frankensteinian monstrosity?

If you just want to hang it as art, what about making a non-functional replica lower and then throwing on an upper and buttstock?

its not an ammunition feeding device at that point.

Why not use a 10/30 for wall art?

Given that you could pour over 10 rnds - 20? 23? 25? - into the tube and plug with finger pressure and ammo could feed and cycle, I'd say no-go.

You could turn it upside down and use it as a gravity fed ammunition feeding devise. So, if I was on a jury, I'd consider it a felony unless it was on a RAW.

Like the others have said, why not just a 10/30, no legal concerns what so ever.

Really, what's the point in not just using a 10/30/ If it's just wall art, a few bucks for a legal mag doesn't make any real difference.
