I'm curious what the anti's will say when D.C. doesn't become a bloodbath or, EVEN WORSE, the crime rate drops!

I don't know what they say, but I'll guess that it will be misguided as usual.

Heres a town that required everyone own a gun, guess what happened?

Um, they've already said that they don't think it will change:

          from: http://www.bradycampaign.org/media/r...hp?release=992
After the Heller ruling, as before, approximately 80 Americans will continue to die from guns every day.

It is more likely that when Obama takes the presidency, another terrorist attack will hit us and they will say, "SEE!!! I TOLD YOU!!!"

How do they explain that? I thought it was lax gun laws that were to blame for people getting killed. After all, it's not like criminals are going to break the law to get guns even after they're banned

Just saw a report on CNN that interviewed police officers from DC. They said that the ban was completely ineffective and that criminals always could get guns they wanted. Moreover people would likely be safer at home now that they can be armed. They said "a burglar would now have to think twice about breaking in and have to worry about coming face to face with an armed homeowner." Also the cops deflected the argument that guns in the home will add to increased violence during domestic disputes. One cop said, "what's gonna happen is going to happen, whether by gun, knife or dinner plate." LOL.

It's not going to happen. They will however make a great scene when someone uses a gun to injure or kill someone though.

There will always be people in that city killing each other. The violence is simply a by product of the overall environment, it was that way before the ban, during the ban and after - I wouldn't expect much of a change. And even if there is a modest decline, I'd expect elected officials to attribute it to other factors.

In fact, if the Mayor & Chief have any smarts at all they'll probably institute some programs that can later claim credit - more PD on the beat, better lighting & after school programs, etc. They'll do this to deflect credit from the defunct gun ban because - and this is important - if dropping the gun ban results in lower crime that means for the past 30 years more people have been attacked, more people have been robbed and more people have died because of a gun ban the Mayor & Chief and almost all elected officials supported. This is the political equivilent of letting people drink from a poisoned well - they're just not going to own up to it. Not in DC, not anywhere.

Perhaps...the crime rate went down because there's nothing LEFT to steal.

We (the U.S.) are about to enter a recession. Typically violence gets worse during recessions. Considering the current media somehow I suspect its going to look bad for us.

Suicide by gun will go up slightly and that is all the media will focus on.

They might not say anything. Didn't violent crime surge over 40 percent in Australia when they put up gun bans? Aren't communities here in the U.S. with high gun ownership in general less crime ridden? Wasn't the Clintonian AW ban essentially worthless in terms of actually lowering gun crimes? Why aren't they talking about this stuff?
