Yea, there are several different rifle clubs that I know of that host matches on military ranges. Quantico is one that has an awsome 1000 yard range that a civilian club calls home.

Hey CSA: I noticed you're from Ventura County -- do you know if Port Hueneme or Pt Mugu has a range?

I know Pt. Hueneme does, not sure about Pt. Magu.

I've never known a Navy Base to allow any personal firearms on base in quite a while. I know both Sub Base PT Loma and NAS North Island both used to allow military to use their respective pistol ranges at lunch. But that was back in the 90's.
The closest military range here in SOCAL that allows civilians would be up at (or down at if your not a real SOCAL'er) Camp Pendleton through the Santa Margarita Gun Club http://www.santamargaritagunclub.org/

I tried to get access to the trap/skeet range on Seal Beach Naval Weapons station since it's just a few blocks away from my house.

Unfortunately, I found out it has been closed since like the 80's due to lead in proximity of wetlands.

It's probably a good thing in the long run. I would have gone broke going trap shooting every day with something that close

It would be interesting to find out about the pistol range there though....

Camp Pendleton allows use of the ranges. It's also used a lot by the Santa Margarita Gun Club. I've fired my OLL, shotguns, and pistols there many many times.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

Point Mugu has a rifle range. Rifles were a-popping when I was down there last month.

China Lake also has a skeet range that I understand is open for civilian use. I have been to it with a coworker but never used it (not seen anyone using it). Have heard of friends going there though...

NAVBASE 32nd st in SD has an indoor range, good luck using it.

I know they used to, but hasn't that been closed to the public for a few years now?

Yeah, I live in Long Beach and I was wondering about the Seal Beach Naval Station. I didn't know they had a pistol range there! HHHhhhhmmmmmm...I wonder what it'd take to get that going for civilian use?

There's a range right next to PCH at Mugu but, I wouldn't have a clue how to go about trying to use it. Since it's so close to the highway, I probably wouldn't want to use it anyway.

Besides Pendleton, Twentynine Palms holds a 4 day regional, including long range & F Class, in November. Civilians that participate are from all over the Western U.S.
I don't know of any military range, however, that allows civilian shooters to do any 'unstructured' shooting.
