Will stripped lowers be available after Dec 31st

Do you think it is likely stripped AR15 lowers will still be available after Dec 31st if in the unfortunate event SB374 does go through?

I don't see why not because they can be built into .22 lr rimefire rifles OR be used with a single shot upper such as Franklins .308 upper.

depends on how intimidated the FFLs are.

    I'm going with probably not.

If I ran a gun store; I'd sell you one with a rimfire kit or I would build a customer a rifle using one with their rimfire kit... but I wouldn't sell them a lower alone until the dust settled.... If other ways to legally use lowers come up after the law goes into effect; that would change things.

I don't see why not. A stripped or complete lower is not a centerfire rifle.

In fact, complete AR's should still be available, as I've already seen work-arounds that require the disassembly of the action.

Don't discount mans ingenuity. Everything will be worked out for us to continue enjoying semi-auto rifles if 374 passes. It just might take a few seconds longer to reload.

A stripped lower can be built into many forms of a firearm/hunting implement; semi auto, single shot, pump action, bolt action, 22LR version of any of the previous, crossbow, etc. I will continue to build AK based firearms albeit without a gas port or blow back operation. ypu can always drill a gas port if/when you move to e free state or the laws here change in our favor.

[QUOTE=dyson;12490428]Should be. You wont be able to reg it as a aw with that purchase date, if you build a semi[ centerfire/QUOTE]

A stripped lower has no action and this could be a single shot or bolt action. In England they build ar-15s as bolt rifles and ironically use 30 round PMAGs with them.

Stripped lowers will never be banned because the DOJ removed their ability to ban by name. I predict regardless of whether SB-374 is signed large numbers will continue to be sold... In fact signing SB-374 will likely increase the number sold.

I put aside a couple hundred for a few lowers. You can pick up a lower right now for 100 bucks. I don't think anyone has an excuse NOT to pick one up at that price.

This. Maybe I want to build a single shot Franklin Arms .30 cal on my lower. Like someone said, as long as FFLs don't get squirrely.

Same here, couple of lowers to be able to make a 20" A4 clone and maybe another 16 ". Maybe a 24" to reach out ?

IF SB-374 goes through, California will still have lowers. Heck, you will even be able to buy brand new semi-autos. Prince Manufacturing, MR2, and Franklin Armory all have new compliance products ready for 2014 if SB-374 should become law. You will still be better off to buy your firearms now since there is no getting around the fact that a 2014 gun would be more difficult to operate.

(The exception to that is the CSW since it is totally unaffected by any pending legislation.)

Overseas I believe they refer to them as in shorthand as "straight pulls". An "AR straight pull" in CA would not require registration, nor a fixed magazine nor a 10 round limit. I know some folks who don't like chasing brass who use this sort of a set up.

Of course, there's a world of difference felt in doing something because you prefer to as opposed to because you must.

I dont think there will be any problems with getting stripped lowers if sb374 isnt stopped...but if you're in the market for a lower you should check here. I started adding links to other peoples threads in my thread in the hopes of making it easier for people to find a lower close to them.
