My AR is out of state, should I bring it back?

I took my AR back home to Nebraska for some prairie dog hunting and left it there for my brother to do some work on it. With the new laws on browns desk should I get it back here ASAP so it can be grandfathered in if he signs them? Or is it best to just keep it out of state since it might have to stay out of state anyways?

It's a good question and I'm no lawyer. I have some guns out of state but I'm a California resident (for now anyway). I'm not planning on returning the out of state firearms but they belong to me and I'm going to register them. The only reason I would bring them back is if they need to be physically verified by the state as part of registration.

Ah good point. I guess for some reason I had it in my head that it would need to be in state and I wouldn't be allowed to take it out of state. Kinda like how silencers are in other states. But I guess maybe I can just give them the serial if I have to register it and then take it in and out as I please?

Good idea! That way next year, or 5 years from now they know where to look when they pass another law that says you cant have them any more.

I know some people that live in other states that would travel here for competitions, that registered their so called AWs during the previous registration periods, so they could bring them here for matches......

Not if they continue to be out of state or befall the tragedy mine will of falling overboard in a boating accident.

You can always move then. Or get temporary storage out of state. For those that want to risk felonies and becoming prohibited persons feel free not to register.

Since the last AW registration the DOJ has been seizing approximately 10,000 firearms per year. Think about it. Then do what you will do.

2nd Mass: are those stats somewhere online? Are these 10000 seizures of registered AWs or unregistered AWs?
