By nature I am not a particularly social person when it comes to striking up a conversation with people/acquaintances outside of my closest friends and family. But our current struggle against this unprecedented and inexcusable attack on our rights has really lit a fire in me. At the same time I realized that, had I not stumbled across CGN while doing research for my first OLL build just a few months ago, I would know nothing about it.
So on two separate occasions today I asked people, that I would've otherwise not spoken to, about their interest in firearms and shooting. As it turns out, both were gun owners, but just occasional recreational shooters. Also, as I suspected, neither of them had even heard of all the proposed legislation. I gave them a quick synopsis, referred them to CGN for more info, and urged them to tell others.
I have benefited tremendously from joining CGN and I certainly don't want to discourage anyone from posting any of their thoughts, comments, and ideas. That being said, I would also like to humbly remind everyone that you are mostly preaching to the choir on these forums. So in addition to your time spent on CGN, don't forget to engage people elsewhere, whenever you can, and share your views/info with them in an intelligent, articulate, and respectful manner.
I have faithfully sent out the emails, called the reps, joined the NRA, and will be a CGN contributor as well (as soon as I recover from all the money I spent on my build
). But, I personally felt like those conversations I had today did more than anything else.
Whatever your opinions are about what our political/legal course of action should be in this struggle, we can all agree that we need to recruit more manpower for the cause. There is no denying that we are fighting an uphill battle against the radical new cultural ideology that has consumed much of our populace. However, I think we still have a vast untapped resource of potential freedom fighters out there who are simply oblivious to what has been going on. It's up to us to seek them out and enlighten them.
