    FFL CA Transfer info

I just received this from an out of state dealer regarding our 1 July 08 "unique number" requirement. Here's a cut & paste of the original e - mail, I included it because it reflects (I think) how the requirement is viewed in the rest of our world.

    "Dear dsf,

Here is the latest news from On Point Firearms:

New California DOJ CFLC Program Sucks

We received this "information bulletin" from the CA DOJ today. The letter went out to every FFL in the country and it appears that doing gun-related business in California just got even harder.

According to the bulletin, dealers outside of California must now enroll in the California Firearms Licensee Check (CFLC) program. That is, of course, if they wish to continue doing business with dealers within the state and not face criminal charges!

Basically, dealers in California will have more paperwork for each transaction. Customers in California will have to wait longer for their weapons to arrive at their dealer. Many out-of-state dealers affected will no longer bother selling to clients in California because of the hassle. Bottom line: CA DOJ is making it harder for honest, citizens in their state to acquire firearms. They're making it harder for honest firearms dealers in their state to make a living. California sucks.

Download and read the entire information bulletin from the California Department of Justice here:

Yes this is BS. I just jumped on a purchase from an out of state dealer to avoid this since many dealers may likely refuse to continue dealing with CA.

Is the letter/process going to require firearm description/serial #, or just long gun/ handgun and quantity??

See the 'Change on BOF site' thread in this forum.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

            DOJ Tariff?

I don't know what it is but it just seems wrong to make out of state FFL's jump through hoops that Ca FFL's don't have to. It seems like the DOJ is trying to add additional expense to certain transactions in an effort to make in state businesses more competitive. Like a tariff or something. I'll have to read the commerce clause again...

speaking of this crap! c&r holders dont have to deal with this stuff right. i read the new law and it doesnt mention 03 holders but does all of the other licence holders. and i only see this as a way of to track business owners of gun shops in other states. and a way to somehow prosicute them if something goes wrong somewhere.

It mentions right at the top that it doesn't apply to 03 or 06 FFLs
