legal to carry about county park?

is it legal to carry at a county park? Im going back to anderson lake tonight to fish and last time i went early morning and there were mountain lions in the area. I jsut found out that anderson lake is part of a county park in gilroy and can not find any information about it.

It is a Santa Clara County Park. They don't have a full brochure posted on their website, but I have a Mt. Madonna one (same agency) and it says:
Weapons: fireams, air guns and paintball guns are prohibited. Bow and arrrows are permitted at the archery range only (Mt. Madonna has an archery range and an archery field course there.)

Most all county parks do not permit firearms. The one up by Chabot range allows you to have them if you are shooting at the range and camping in the camp ground, but you must keep them stored unless going to/from the range.

Well, since you can't carry a firearm, I hope you were able to catch any of the mt. lions with your fishing line and hook and cast them away.

I'd be way more concerned about some of the home boys I've come across in those parks than mt. lions. I've never seen any rangers up on the trails either, except one time one rode by on a horse.

theres a decent amount of rangers up there... in the day. at night time i hope i dont run into anything but a tree. I ended up not going because it really doesnt feel that safe if i cant legally have my gun. The spot that im at fishing is always a very steep and decently far walk. If an animal was to come at me i have no where to run but out into the water and well im the only person who likes to fish but cant swim.

If i cant carry would i be able to have it in my backpack in a case and have it 5 feet away from me? or is it totally off limits not even in the car rule?
