Didn't assume anything and not trying to insult the OP as mentioned before. Its got nothing to do with working on firearms im just trying to point people toward the pending laws. The BB is a key legislation pending along with other things and people here are barely starting to notice.Originally posted by California44You assume a lot about the OP. Some folks don't have experience working on firearms.Comment

Lol, what if its not? Now what.....Comment

It will be soon by legislative fiat and governor signature but I am betting a court will provide injunctive relief. And for most of the onerous bills passed this term. But the longer term implications are clear: the majority of Californians don't want private citizens who own and use guns to live here any more and if you stay, they will make life exceedingly difficult, repressive, and expensive for you.Last edited by advocatusdiaboli; 06-29-2013, 9:45 PM.Benefactor Life Member NRA, Life Member CRPA, CGN Contributor, US Army Veteran, Black Ribbon in Memoriam for the deceased 2nd Amendment

Gun control is not about public safety. It's about power and wealth control.

I'm sorry but it's EXTREMELY frustrating to see gun owners, especially Scary Black Rifle owners that have no clue about what's going on. With all of the stories about gun control on the news, the fact that they live in California and all of the info on this board stickied at the top. Does the OP have any friends that are gun owners? Has he gone to a gun store or a range in the last 6 months? How about a little respect? This person is a fellow gun owner asking for a simple answer to a simple question.
This state is so screwed. A citizen that owns a gun, or wants to own one, is vilified by the liberals and those we pay to enforce the law, and then when those that are uninitiated when it come to firearms post what would be a simple inquiry they are chastised.
I'm really not MAD at the OP. I'm just pissed that I know he represents the majority of California gun owners. Laws are passing without them even knowing. No matter how many people we tell, emails we send, phone calls we make etc... I went sooting last month with a friend of a friend. He actually thought we could stop at WalMart and pick up some 9mm ammo on the way out. After I explained everything that is going on, he was blown away saying "I had no idea that it was that bad".
As for RESPECT, people need to respect the fact that they own devices that are under a constant threat of being taken away. Not knowing that fact, contributes to them getting taken.Internet rule #1:

+1. Owning a firearm, especially in this state, and not being involved and aware of what is going on is downright irresponsible. Had he waited until next year to ask this or care, he'd have been in possession of an unregistered assault weapon and never be able to register, use, sell or pretty do anything with it ever again. How can so many here excuse ignorance due to laziness?I'm sorry but it's EXTREMELY frustrating to see gun owners, especially Scary Black Rifle owners that have no clue about what's going on. EVERYONE is ignorant to some laws. And it's not because of laziness. It's because there are too many damn laws. There is no justification for the public servant police to be more heavily armed than the law-abiding public they serve...Unless...the government's intention is to be more powerful than the people.Comment

Ignorance to some laws isn't the issue here. Ignorance to the presence of a HUGE political fiasco is the problem.
If it's important enough to have a sticky about it, it's not some "obscure subsection." It's kind of important.
I don't pretend to know all the answers. But i do my due diligence and research stuff before i ask. I go to google and search whatever it is, then i add "site:calguns.net" to the end of my search string and it brings me to the right place 90% of the time.RIP Cpl Contreras, Sgt Atwell and LtCol Raible.Comment

I would do the same as you. But everyone is not computer literate. He's averaging 11 posts per year, probably doesn't spend much time online. And I'm pretty sure he knew it was kind of important, which is why he asked the question. We should treat gun owners kindly. It doesn't help our cause when we treat everyone as if they should already know all of the gun laws, and keep current with pending law. There are still people who don't know about the 3.5% gasoline tax, and that affects far more people than OLLs.Ignorance to some laws isn't the issue here. We always say the problem with gun control is lack of education. So let's do some educating. There is no justification for the public servant police to be more heavily armed than the law-abiding public they serve...Unless...the government's intention is to be more powerful than the people.Comment

^^This. There are tumutuous time for gun rights in California. Anti-gun advocates are trying to drive gun owners out of the state. It's my state damn it, and if I leave if will be on my terms not theirs! Let's help each other. Maybe we need a 'stickie' that shows in a simple form on one page a one sentence summary of a bill and it's current status?I would do the same as you. But everyone is not computer literate.
