    Gifting handgun question

If my father, who lives in another state, wants to gift me a couple of handguns does this fall under the 1 handgun per month rule or is it similar to a PPT?
    Thanks

    More PPT-ish.

It'd be easiest if your father could bring them to a local FFL in CA for the transfer. You have to have the Handgun Safety Certificate; presuming they're not CA 'assault weapons' the intrafamilial transfer is exempt from the 1 in 30 rule and exempt from the Roster.

    I believe the FFL will
    • charge a fee,
    • file a DROS,
    • hold for 10 days,
    • require a safety/handling demo,
    • require a CA-approved lock
    for each.

Don't forget, if they're semi-automatic, magazines must be 10 rounds or fewer.
