-favored racial profiling (let's be honest, crime stats are what they are) would that mean it's ok?

-favored internment of people's thought to be a threat (oops, already happened!!) does that justify it?

-favored an official state religion (or prohibiting one that doesn't agree with current, politically correct trends) make it legal or right?

if 1%, .01%, hell even if I'm the only person in the entire country that wants to worship a tire iron as my supreme diety, freedom of religion still prevails. and THAT WAS THE POINT of the constitution, to protect the minority from the will of the majority. or more specifically, to protect the individual from the democratic will of the people.

rights are not subject to popular will. popular will does not supersede rights. so, the next time one of those idiots rambles off about 90%, ask them if speech or religion, or privacy, is subject to a 90% referendum.

I don't really acknowledge that "90%" or "92%" statistic about "sensible gun control laws" or "extended background checks." That was a CBS poll that only surveyed 1100 people. That small of a sample doesn't come close to being on my statistically relevant radar screen.

I agree. A recent poll ranked peoples most important issues and "gun control" ranked near the bottom. 4% of that group rated "gun control" as an important issue. That means that our side has 96% support. Agenda driven polls are useless.

If simply asked "do you support common sense gun laws" without more information, you probably do get a VERY high number of people saying yes. after all, who doesn't support common sense gun laws?

If you lay in front of those exact same people you just asked "do you support common sense gun laws", the actual text of a proposed law as an example of "common sense law" you will find people changing their answer.

while we "all" might support "common sense gun laws"...what each of us defines as as "common sense" can vary greatly.

I personally think it is "common sense" that everyone has the right to carry a handgun at anytime for personal defense.

DiFi would disagree and say it's "common sense" that no one should be able to carry a handgun.

I'm all for having the public media actually stating facts in their written articles versus biased opinions........... and I'm sure that at least 90% of the public would support it.


In the last few days the main stream media has turned into a fervorous rage in response to the gun ban not passing the House vote. Articles are stating that 90% of the population wanted a gun ban, or the NRA lobbyiests bought the votes, the Right wingers bullied the Dems..................... sounds like a lot of Butthurt to me.

Before that the main stream media spent countless hours writing misguided articles with erroneous data to try and sway public opinion towards more gun laws. I can't watch a show on T.V. without it being interrupted or followed up by something anti-gun. 10's of millions of dollars was spent on ads in newspapers, magazines, online blogs, T.V. commercials, etc. and the PEOPLE didn't buy it.
