In case you haven't seen it, a mass-mailing is going out like this:
A few hours ago, President Obama stood with parents who lost children in the Newtown tragedy and said: "All in all, today was a pretty shameful day for Washington."
That's because a minority of senators blocked legislation that would have made America safer and better protected our kids. Forty-five lawmakers stood in the way of improvements to the background check system that would keep guns out of the hands of violent criminals and the mentally unstable -- something that 90 percent of Americans support...
It includes links to post a cute logo to twitter and facebook with the words, "I support common-sense steps to reduce gun violence #nowisthetime"
So I wrote this response on the WH page:
Dear Mr. President,
You said "All in all, today was a pretty shameful day for Washington."
In my opinion, today was a victory in the fight against tyranny. While you shamefully trotted out the families of victims of a mad man, The Democratic-controlled Senate voted for their constituents wishes.
This legislation would NOT have made America safer and better protected our kids, but it would have punished law-abiding citizens.
I know why this happened - because American citizens are taking back the country from those who want to turn it into Nazi Germany. And that's good enough for me.
