I had a misdemeanor DV that was never a wobbler approximately 15 years ago. I have had my record expunged over 10 years ago now. I forgot all about it and went to purchase a handgun and got a denial letter. After calling the state DOJ they referred me to the Federal office as the charge has a lifetime federal ban and a 10 year state ban. I was told I would need to file a new expungement specifically asking to restore my 2nd amendment rights. Does anybody know how I would go about filing an expungement to restore my 2nd amendment rights when my record has already been expunged? Or is there a different route I would or should explore.
