    Private party sale questions

My buddy wants to buy a revolver from me. I know we are both "good to go" (legal) as far as CA requirements go. We know to go through a dealer w/ an FFL, and he has to do the dros and wait the 10 days. Does he still have to have a BFSC and demonstrate safe handling proceedures? Does he have to pay a sales tax? Oh, and buy a lock? Does he still need to provide 2 ID's? Neither of us has done a ppt for a handgun. I'm guessing all the answers are "yes". Also, are there any publications out there that might be like "Cliff Notes" for all the myriad CA gun laws? Wading through the DOJ website soon gets very time consuming. Thanks in advance.

-If by BFSC you mean Handgun Safety Card, then yes he needs one
-I don't believe taxes are imposed on PPT's
-Lock is required unless you sign the safe waiver. If you don't own a safe, I'd recommend buying a lock from wal-mart, show the receipt, then refund the lock after the transaction.

Safe affidavit no longer good for handgun transfer due to a federal law. Must go out the door with a lock.

Thanks. I kinda thought so. I don't buy or sell firearms frequently enough to keep up with the ever changing CA laws.
