    Nascar NRA 500

I figured since this will be more of a political discussion then anything else I would put it in 2A, if mods decide it doesn't belong here then I apologize.

Is anyone watching the NRA 500? I started watching it late(lap 150) but I noticed something, I have not heard the announcers call it "The NRA 500" they keep saying "This 500 miles at Texas" or "The 500 at Texas" and I've yet to see the logo broadcasted. It says it on the track by the start/finish line but it looks like they are trying very hard not to show it.

It's fox, I didn't think they would be this bad but it looks like they're caving into political pressure very badly.

    Disappointing.

They finally just said it. Yet to see them show the logo like they normal do every 5 seconds.

Has it really come to this? Even NASCAR is "ashamed" to be affiliated with the NRA?

I bet they'd say and show it more if it was the NARAL500.

During the winner's interview, an NRA sign was behind the driver. The cameraman quickly moved so that the sign was no longer behind the driver. Obviously FOX Sports consists of a bunch of gutless cowards.

Watched the whole race. The race sponsor was hardly mentioned (if at all). They should get all of their money back. Fox fuctem. Shame on Fox to cave to these idiot politicians. They act as if the NRA supports killing children. We all agree that there is a problem, we just disagree how to fix the problem.

NRA and Nascar fans are like bread and butter. They go well together. Hopefully this backfires on the leftist media and opens a few more eyes.

I agree with Bruce and Branden. It was like showing the NRA logo, who is the race sponsor for heaven's sake, was like showing kittens being smashed. Every other race they say "and welcome back to the STP 400" or "and we're live at the (insert race sponsors name that I can't think of right now) 300" at every commercial break. They did no such thing here just because the sponsor was the NRA. I literally heard them say "NRA 500" twice. And other than the Logo on the field and the winning car (as Bruce pointed out they only showed it for a split second) I did not see the three letters NRA at all. They have no graphic at all. The only graphic I saw was "Texas 500".

And what pisses me off is it's not because of the fans, I think we can all assume that most NASCAR fans are ok with the NRA sponsoring a race (not saying all NASCAR fans approve of the NRA, I'm just saying I feel like most would not think it to be such a huge, bad, thing) it's not like the race was sponsored by Ken Livingston (if you don't get that joke, he's the British guy who always seems to make life hell for British motorists) it was just the NRA. So, they only walked on egg shells because of political pressure. Which is crazy. That would be like sensoring the "Burger King 500" because PETA is protesting. Do you think they would? That's what pisses me off

How often do they talk about SaveMart during the Sonoma race?

No conspiracy here. NASCAR and/or FOX caved to some two bit politician looking for attention. A conspiracy is secret. This was obvious.

The response to the politician should have been, "We support freedom and the Constitution. If our fans disagree with our choice, they will let us know!"

NASCAR did cave. This topic is blowing up on Twitter. Plenty of pissed off fans/former fans. It will be interesting to see how NASCAR responds.

Race sponsorship in Nascar IS a big deal... and it's a big money commitment from the sponsor. Every broadcast is saturated with references to the sponsor... whether it's Subway, Food City, Savemart, Kobalt, STP, Aaron's,... even Bojangles for cryin' out loud. For FOX to wimp out and dis the NRA the way they did is an outrage and a slap in the face to 99% of the Nascar fans who are supporters of the 2nd Amendment. What to do about it? I have no idea, but I hope Nascar and Fox at least acknowledge it publicly.

                              I won't hold my breath...
