My E mail To Mr. Wayne LaPierre addressing the mental health issues

I am also attaching a link from the February 5th,2013 Opinion section in Wall Street Journal titled:
Fifty Years of Failing America's Mentally Ill
A linked page may have moved. Search to find it here on our new site or connect to our most popular pages.

Dr. Torrey, who is the founder of the Treatment Advocacy Center, makes some very valid points in his February 5th, 2013 Wall Street Journal Opinion:
According to multiple studies summarized by the Treatment Advocacy Center, these untreated mentally ill are responsible for 10% of all homicides (and a higher percentage of the mass killings), constitute 20% of jail and prison inmates and at least 30% of the homeless.
Nor is President Obama likely to do anything, since his lead agency, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, has essentially denied that a problem exists. Its contribution to the president's response to the Dec. 14 Newtown tragedy focused only on school children and insurance coverage. And its current plan of action for 2011-14, a 41,000-word document, includes no mention of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or outpatient commitment, all essential elements in an effective plan for corrective action.
    D. Here is another link that addresses the need for more mental health facilities:

    Nice article!

IMO, the mental health issue is a slippery slope. I believe it is already the law for mental health professionals to report suicidal or homicidal patients to law enforcement. They in turn may get adjudicated and will subsequently fail a background check if they try to purchase a firearm.

What these loons want to do is give doctors the ability to arbitrarily place you on "the list" without due process of law. That is the slippery slope.

Joseph Stalin controlled his people by squeezing the food supply, and we are going to be controlled through our healthcare system.

I agree, however my point is that our 2nd amendment rights for law abiding citizens are being nettled away, while the "mentally challenged" are protected by the "privacy act" WTF is with that?? The political gun supporters are too focused on our 2nd on rights and loosing focus on who Most of the killers are--i.e mentally challenged (criminals too). We need to get families of those that have mentally challenged loved ones to come public (just as Mr. Obama is doing with Sandy Hook) and share their stories about this underfunded mental health institution changes that is needed to have these homicidal/ suicidal mentally challenged people in the Doj system.
