Guy in Bloomberg gun-control ads breaks all the major rules of gun safety

Sorry if this is a dupe

HotAir is the leading conservative blog for breaking news and commentary covering the Biden administration, politics, media, culture, and current elections.

Mr. Bloomberg’s organization, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, produced two ads featuring a man holding a shotgun, wearing plaid flannel with a camouflage cap and sitting on the tailgate of a pickup truck. While a child swings on a tire in the background, the man says, “I support comprehensive background checks so criminals and the dangerously mentally ill can’t buy guns.”

The ad does not specify if the man is an actor, but the text accompanying it says he is a “gun owner.” Either way, the man violates all three gun safety rules taught by the National Rifle Association (NRA).

The first rule is to always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. In this case, the children are playing in the yard. Although the viewers can’t see what is to the side of the truck, the man should be pointing the muzzle in the air or at the ground.

The second NRA rule is always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

In the ad “Responsibility,” the man has his finger on the trigger, as if ready to shoot. While doing this, he says, “I believe in the Second Amendment, and I’ll fight to protect it. But with rights come responsibilities.” To make an ad demonstrating actual gun responsibility, the man would put a straight forefinger above the trigger guard to make sure he doesn’t accidentally touch the trigger.

Our senator plus DEA agent got the same trigger discipline training years ago. It is perfectly legit.

      here's the ad:

Typical...comments are disabled. Why are anti's always the ones NOT fond of the "open discussion", "dialogue" and "conversation" about guns that they are always harping on and on about?

Heaven forbid someone points out the flaw in their.......logic; although I use the word lightly...

I noticed that they are only talking about background checks. Not all the other crap that was passed.

What a joke. "Vote to protect gun rights".

All in all I think the "mayors against gun violence" ad was a little more infuriating.

We're supposed to identify with them because they're gun owners too!

His finger is never on the trigger. If Emily Miller had bothered to Google a picture of an 870, she'd realize this. Trigger guard doesn't even begin for about 2" behind rear of the ejection port.

She's done a lot for our side, but this nitpicking is better suited for a blog post.

All Democrat & Liberal Anti-gunners don't have actual facts for an open discussion. They exploit survivors and victims of criminal violence with emotional sensationalism for their agendas. If they could, they would burn The Constitution to warm their secret "Gestapo" meetings. They applaud more Sandy Hooks and Auroras as those tradegy events play with the fundamental passion of all Americans. They don't really care for the victims. They care for themselves AND THOSE OF THEIR VOTERS!!!

If you click the handy 1080p button it's clear that his fingers are all "behind" the trigger guard, and his finger is never on the trigger.

You guys need to realize that gun haters wag their fingers so much they have to let them rest. And that trigger is just so comfy.

Yea his finger isnt on the trigger but he still displays bad trigger discipline in addition to bad muzzle discipline. Especially laughable when the point of the propaganda ad is 'responsibility'.

But true to ignorant gungrabber form.

It will be funny when they expose the actors true identity

I like how they always disable ratings and comments. They know the $#it they talk about is a lie, but they want people to believe it anyways.

Not to mention the ad itself is terrible. Really? Background checks to prevent criminals from buying guns? Like criminals buy guns, what a joke.

When my wife showed me the ad all I could think is that criminals don't buy guns from a gun store what a load of manure this is. I'm sure a lot of liberal wieners were saying to themselves that background checks do stop criminals from buying guns.
