D-Day for NY SAFE Act is March 11

I didn't see this article posted yet. It looks like NY has until March 11th to prove the passage of the act was Constitutional, otherwise it will be enjoined by a NY Judge.....

It would actually suck if NY repealed the law. It would be in our interest for this to go to SCOTUS.

Good! CA gun laws should be attacked as well.

Well, from my read of the little bit noted in the article, their attack wasn't that is was untenable from a Federal constitutional standpoint, or that is violates 2A etc. but rather that the law was passed "too quickly" and not pursuant to the NY Con. So...OK they go back and take 3 days longer to do it. It's obvious they (the anti's) have the votes to do it.

They actually might not since alot of those who voted for it have gotten major heat from their constituents, and gotten alot of flack from counties and LE.

So if it was put up to a revote, it could likely fail.

                    Mixed feelings...

One part of me wants this to be struck down and buried under 10 tons of concrete, never to surface again.

The other part of me wants this to survive the local courts so it can go to SCOTUS and give it the divine smackdown it deserves. Mag caps will never again be questioned...

                    Decisions, decisions...

Its the age old question. Do I want my toys now or later? I would love for SCOTUS to decide on the case, but again the other side of me wants it now.

No, that's like turning down $5000 so you can take a coin flip at $50,000. Except if you lose the coin flip, you have to pay $50,000. SCOTUS should be a save haven of last resort.

This. Better to win in court and have state appeal, than to lose and have to keep fighting.
