Support petition limiting Government bodyguards in NY to 7 rounds

Please consider supporting this petition on the Whitehouse website that limits the bodyguards of New York government officials to firearms that carry no more than seven rounds.

Why is it talking about New York? That is not really a White House matter. It should be broader, applying to all police and bodyguards nationwide.

I wouldn't want to limit the bodyguards, they have the right to it. Just as i have the right to possess the same magazine as to what they are currently using.

We shouldn't go backwards and limit other people (bodyguards or not) because we're limited. Besides, what if they agree to it.

Because if 7 rounds is enough, for residents of the state of New York, it should be fine for the political class too. Now whether such a petition changes anything is another story.

Its poking Obama's administration in the virtual eye. They wouldn't take it serious, nor could they do it, but they would have to answer against their own absurd position which is the funny part.
Look at the tyranny of party -- at what is called party allegiance, party loyalty -- a snare invented by designing men for selfish purposes -- and which turns voters into chattles, slaves, rabbits, and all the while their masters, and they themselves are shouting rubbish about liberty, independence, freedom of opinion, freedom of speech, honestly unconscious of the fantastic contradiction... Because bodyguards have better access to the people they protect

I agree that in a better world we wouldn't have to deal with silly laws that restrict ANYBODYS magazine capacity to seven rounds - but that is NOT the world we live in.

Cuomo and Bloomberg either don't know or don't care that the common people need FUNCTIONAL firearms in order to protect themselves, but you can BET that their bodyguards DO understand this.

If the politicians start hearing from their OWN bodyguards that they need more than seven rounds to protect THEM - they might listen. Particularly if the bodyguards threaten to quit if they're not properly armed.

Will a petition work? Probably not, however a lot of low-information voters in New York have been swayed by the idea that limiting magazine capacity will somehow increase public safety - those people may well be amenable to the argument that the bodyguards of government officials don't need more than seven rounds. If the public starts asking that question the politicians might start thinking.

There already IS a similar petition - except that it wants to DISARM the SS. I've already signed it.

Whatever. You guys are missing the big picture. If by some miracle they manage to get something limiting body guards, cops, whatever to 7 rounds, who is going to charge them, let alone bust them? Nobody.

It would still be interesting to see what the WH has to say when they have an obligation to respond when the number (I think when it hits 25,000) of signatures is reached...
