    draft email to California assembly

    All,
    The Honourable blahblah,

As a 62 year old voter, tax paying California citizen, and military veteran, I am compelled to write you regarding the pending assembly bill on gun control. I applaud your effort and concern for Californias safety. There certainly is too much illegal gun related activity in our society today. I would like to suggest that the proposals put fort in the bill appears on first blush to be of some help. I would like to add a few suggested amendments to your gun ban proposal.

First, All movies and video games, produced, sold or distributed in California should have all guns banned from their content. Our youth are being conditioned to violence through the media and merely making guns illegal is not enough. We need to remove guns and gun violence from being institutionalized in our media. All toy guns should also be banned, they only serve to condition our youth to further violence. I realize the this may have Bill of Rights implications but since we are denigrating the Bill of Rights why not complete the job.

Second, I would further suggest that a database be established of all Californians whether citizen or undocumented that have displayed or have been diagnosed with mental health issues. The schools and hospitals should be required to report to this database any individual that exhibits mental health related symptoms so that the DOJ has a database of individuals that pose a threat to social order. I, again, realize that this might have Bill of Rights implications but since we are already denigrating the Bill of Rights lets finish the job.

Finally, lets close our porous southern border through which passes vast quantities of illegal guns and drugs that end up in the hands of our youth and the multitude of gangs and criminals who use these illegal weapons to terrorize our citizens.

Finally, if you choose not to implement some form of these proposals, I beseech you please allow me as a citizen, taxpayer, and voter to enjoy my 2nd amendment right to protect my family, property and myself from the crazies, gangs, parolees, and criminals that choose to not follow the law. For you will not and can not disarm them! As they stand today, the California gun laws are stringent enough yet allow the legal gun owner his 2nd Amendment right, but the proposals in the current bill will result in a gross violation of the rights of all legal gun owners.

These politicians do not care about how the tax paying California citizen, and military veteran people feel.

Send it. I would go back and check spelling, but by saying they should ban video game sis kind of funny - but not something I wouldn't put past them to try one day. I think it is important to send letters and emails and to make calls as well. The more voices they hear form IMO the better.

Thank you for your service by the way .

        Don't do it!

I'm not sure our legislators are bright enough to recognize sarcasm and they may take these as serious suggestions..

Especially since Feinstein and Yee have already been trying to censor video games, Yee even tied to outright ban all "violent" video games in California!!
"The fundamental point [against gun control] is this: Do you take away the liberties of all, do you assume the guilt of all, because some people cannot handle that freedom properly? Imagine if you did, how many other freedoms would have to be taken away." - Peter Hitchens.

Send it. People who don't make any effort to speak out against persecution are one reason things get worse and worse. Not a large percentage of the population is gay but look what a great job that community has done in standing up for their rights. Somehow they have managed to distance the majority of gays from the perverted few who are child molesters. We need to similarly distance ourselves from these psycho shooters we are now being associated with.
