    Thank you, Sheriff Moore

Article in today's Record about CSSA's letter to VP Biden.

San Joaquin County Sheriff Moore came out in support of this letter. Thank you, sir.

"As the chief law enforcement officers in our respective counties, it is our duty to protect the members of our communities and preserve individual rights and freedoms," Royal wrote in the letter. "It is the position of the CSSA, in accordance with the Constitution of the United States and the statutes of the State of California, that law-abiding persons who meet the established requirements have the right to acquire, own, possess, use, keep and bear firearms. This right shall not be infringed."

Sheriff Moore doesn't issue for self defense, like his counterpart Sacramento County does, in settlement to a lawsuit.

Moore doesn't deserve your thanks. He deserves your derision for denying you your right to bear arms, regardless of these crap declarations he makes. There's a reason we treat Sheriff D'Agostini of El Dorado County and Paul Parker of Sutter County differently than Mr. Moore when he makes declaration.

It is actions, not words, that prove intent.

Ask the good sheriff why he denies you your right to bear arms when he talks about the constitution....

^ But can we not at least accept the fact that he has gone on record supporting the 2A?

Yes, he deserves our derision for denying folks the right to carry but now he now he's talking out both sides of his mouth and now he will have to defend both positions.

You forgot to include Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko in the pile of minimally useful Sheriffs making statements that mean little in advancing the 2A.

Yes, it is the only arrow in my quiver, but I will dog the man until my dying breath.

Doesn't say anything about not banning "assault weapons" or that the CSAA won't enforce State or Federal laws.

Is there a link anywhere to the full letter?

I don't remember, but did Sheriffs oppose the AWB back in '89? If not, then it should be seen more as a victory. Sheriffs point of view changing, even though not as far as we would like.

His "going on record" means nothing while he denies carry licenses for self defense. There is no reason for him as sheriff to refuse to issue licenses for self defense when almost two dozen of his counterparts do. I seem to remember some people being personally interviewed by him for the license, him dragging out his NRA card as cover for denying a carry license?

                        Political fluff theater.

I know Moore and the political machine that keeps him in office.

When he changes his Department's policy to shall issue then he will deserve a "thank you" for supporting our 2nd Ammendment rights.

Not EVER going to happen unless court ordered or he gets voted out.

Sheriff Moore is one of the WORST, most egregiously tyrannical, anti-liberty, and anti-gun sheriffs in this state. He makes Los Angeles Sheriff Baca proud.

CSSA wrote an entirely non-substantive, political letter because there's so much internal conflict over guns and gun rights. The letter is meaningless.
