    Transporting Rifles?

It appears open carry of rifles was banned by Govenor Brown.

Must the same procedure be used to transport rifles to the shooting range as is required for handguns?

Yes, open carry was banned, started on Jan 1.

      The answer is no.

Inside the car, the gun can be on your front seat: provided it isn't a RAW, you are not in a school zone, and it is unloaded. If in a school zone, then yes, a locked container. That is nothing new and was already the case.

Walking down the street with it has changed. In that case, you can carry it if 1) it is in a case made to carry a gun .2) You are heading directly to the range, gunshop, home from either, to the PD etc. 3.) If not in a gun case, then the case must be locked. This could just be a padlock on the zippers.

But again, nothing has changed for car transport.
