The Ultimate Example WTF Auto Reply From SEN Boxer's Office

I've used several of the Auto "Contact Your Representatives" features as well as written letters on my own.

None of them have been even slightly been aligned with her "Supposed Common-Sense" gun law ranting.

This is the auto reply I received from her office . . .
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    United States Senate

Dear Mr. SDJim*(name changed for OPSEC Purposes):

Thank you for contacting me to express your support for common-sense gun laws. I appreciate hearing from you, and I share your desire for sensible federal gun safety legislation.

The massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School tragically stole the lives of 26 people, including 20 small children, and broke all of our hearts. Since 1999 - the year of the massacre at Columbine High School - 258 students, teachers, and others have been killed in school shootings. Another 212 have been wounded due to gun violence at our schools.

The slaughter of innocents must stop. We cannot prevent every attack by those who wish us harm, but we can and must do something to avoid more tragedies. I am heartened that the President is taking executive action to curb gun violence; his commitment to this cause is a fitting tribute to the victims.

Congress has a responsibility to act as well. We have failed our children, and we must take common-sense steps now to protect them. First, we must take weapons of war and high-capacity clips off our streets; second, we must ensure that local law enforcement is involved in reviewing conceal and carry permits; third, we must close the gun show loophole so background checks are conducted; fourth, we must keep all guns out of the hands of the mentally ill and get them the help they need; and fifth, we must keep our schools safe.

In the days ahead, I will work for a comprehensive strategy, which includes sensible gun laws, a focus on mental health, and school safety. When there are an estimated 300 million firearms in the United States, nearly one gun per person, now is the right time. When more than 31,000 people die each year from gun violence in our nation - 87 people every day - now is the right time.

Again, thank you for writing to me. Please feel free to contact me again about this or other issues of concern to you.

    Sincerely,

    Barbara Boxer
    United States Senator

Looks like one of her staff hit the wrong button and you got the anti rather than pro response.

Are her numbers good? I have never seen the 31,000 Deaths by gun violence.

If 8,583 MURDERS were committed in 2011 with Firearms... and don't take my word for it, that's straight from the FBI Homicide Tables 2011... then 22,417 people a year are killing THEMSELVES.

I fail to see how a ban of either Detachable-magazine, Semi-Automatic Rifles with one Additional Feature OR High Capacity Magazines will prevent such an astronomical number of Suicides and Negligent Discharges!

At most, a suicide might get off (2) shots if it bump-fires, and realistically... how many times are you going to unintentionally shoot yourself before you stop or are dead?

It is time for those in the media who consider themselves Journalists to insist on some parity in the numbers game.

And I think it is time to start sharing these misleading missives with the few who will be taking up our fight on the floor of the Congress and CA Legislature. Perhaps when confronted with actual facts on the floor, with C-Span as witness, some of the undecided will see who they get to choose to side with.

Heck, if her 31,000 number IS correct, gun owners are 2.61 times more likely to shoot themselves than another!!!

She should SUPPORT us having as many guns as possible... it is the Mathematically fastest way to get guns off the streets!

258 students, teachers and others have been killed in school shootings since 1999-approximately 24 people year.

Compare that the best Estimate the CDC can give on the number of yearly Flu deaths over the last 31 years... between 97 and 1,580.

I called their office and firmly told the person answering the phone I DO NOT support any gun bans or magazine bans and my email was not properly read, and proceeded to tell them why I do not support magazine bans or gun bans. They tried to get off the phone with me and I said, excuse me, but it is important you understand that gun rights are civil rights and I continued. That 31,000 person number is half suicides, that is not a gun murder, etc.

              never give up!
just happy to be here. I like talking about better ways to protect ourselves.

But there are two different replies from Boxer!

Not much better, but slightly. Not that I believe she is really going to consider my view...

                  I went to her website

To voice my opinion. Choose civil rights instead of sensible gun laws as the topic.

Also, I then went to her YouTube official page senatorboxer and started thumbs downing all her video. I am a one issue voter for now. Many of them have all 100% thumbs up.

I encourage all those who believe in gun rights to use the digital world to voice our opinion in all public type forums like YouTube, twitter, etc...

Ps Feinstein turned off the ratings and comments back in March 2012 to all her new youtube videos So much for wanting to hear from the people you serve.
