This is the phenomenon with massive populations. In a state with 35+ MILLION people, We could bury every gun store in the state 50 feet deep under customers and still not use more than a single digit percentage of the total population.

do you actually believe this Anti-gun people are buying up a bunch of guns because when your theoretical civil war comes they dont want to be unarmed? Sounds like one hell of a stretch

They are buying guns to shoot 2a supporters. The left continually threatens violence against the NRA and people associated with it, (des moines register), hypocrisy is their specialty.

while I don't think it's true - I do find the hypocritical correlation amusing. It falls in line with their bass ackwards thinking.

Yes, the gun stuff has long left the shelves, but gun owners here suffer more than just about anyone else in the country. Those anti's sure do have a lot of powerful friends...

I shop at two gun stores exclusively. Both have made mention that they have seen a lot of people they are not familiar with in the last month or so. I visit the gun shop at least one every couple weeks. If not for ammo, for new future purchases, or accessories. They know their clientele. Its not like pro gun people are out buying up all the guns at double and sometimes triple the normal going rate. We already have our guns. People without them and scared are the ones willing to spend astronomical amounts of money on the firearms.
Those of us with guns already are just looking for ammo.

I think it's more a hoarding issue. I was at the LGS today and overheard a guy tell the clerk he wanted all the 9mm ammo they had in stock. He said he went to another LGS the day before and did the same thing.

Yes, only a small percentage of gun owners belong to the NRA. And I don't find gun stores in the Bay Area running out of inventory as any sort of sign of an "awakening". It is still a tiny percentage of the population who are buying all these guns. The Bay Area is, remains and if anything has become even more virulently anti-gun.

The majority of anti's are in S.F. , L.A. and Sac. The rest of the state loves and wants guns.

Sucks that those 3 cities dictate laws for the rest of us.

There's more gun owners in California than any other state in the nation except Texas. Of course, that is mostly due to our total population, but we're pretty high on the percentile too considering how anti it is.
Same here. I have never gotten dirty looks while wearing gun affiliated shirts. If anything people will strike up conversation with me about guns. I also live in OC.

I have several friends and acquaintances with whom I go shooting on regular/semi-regular basis. A few of them own AKs and SKSs, others own bolt action rifles or shotguns. They are neither poor, nor liberals. I emailed 7 of them last week to ask them to join the NRA. No response. Emailed them again a few days later - 1 response "Yeah, I guess so.".

So...yeah, gun owners are not necessarily standing up for right to own guns.

I've been quite surprised a few times. Some people you would never expect. I had a girl my age (20) who didn't look anything like a gun owner or shooter tell me that she was a life member of the NRA. Also I've noticed that the younger generation even though they tend to be more on the liberal side are not as antigun as you would think. A recent poll showed that 60% of college students plan on owning a gun in the near future.

Why not just man up and gift them associate memberships at $10 each?

If you feel so strongly about it, just do it, and call it a day. You can tell them to thank you later.
