My prediction - he saw how huge the line was ('cause it started forming at 5:30PM the night he left) and decided to hobknob with the other gun-folk in the bar of the Watergate Hotel.

Or, he bought an RG pistol on Gunbroker and gave Josh Sugarmann's (of the Violence Policy Center) FFL as the transfer dealer - and now he's sitting in a bar with Gura with a huge smile on his face.
