Schumer asks gun mfr's for moratorium???

I hope they asked him for a moratorium on stupidity. Or at least told him to go f*** himself.

    Schumer

I particularly like this line from Chuckie:

"Schumer says Congress is debating the issue, and if measures get passed that limit these type of weapons, it won’t help if more of them have recently been sold."

Georgie the fact he's said that means we've won on that issue (barring disaster, gotta be vigilant...)

This is what you do when you fail: throw up your hands, ask for "voluntary" work and then derate people & organizations for "not volunteering".

So besides seeing the House ratio (i.e, gun bans dead), Schumer's seeing some Senators drop off.

The fear may be that if it came to a vote it'd be a rout. Lotsa memories of 1994 there.

I think we're OK Federally - as long as we're vigilant. There is still a risk on mag issues, but I don't think that can squeeze by House.

CA will be where the battle is, and I think CGF will be offering 'something interesting' fairly soon (i.e, somewhat post-SHOT) on the legal front.

Maybe we should ask for a moratorium of the rights that left defend?

How about a moratorium on manufacturers selling guns, parts and ammo to the government? I wonder what they'd think about that?

That's a GREAT quote. It actually will help tremendously if more of them are sold, since there is the "in common use" clause in Heller that gets more difficult to ignore with each one sold.

What he meant to say is that "it won't help them." Now that's what I'd call irony.

This is also a very serious political risk. Those in congress who come from the deep blue voter base have nothing to gain by voting either way. Those who come from more moderate environments can lose much more than they can gain - gun control is generally much further from the center than gun rights, particularly now when we talk about civil rights.

Just preparing a bill like this in the Senate is a serious minefield. Republicans might decide not to filibuster, so there is a recorded vote and there is no finger pointing. Then the bill can die in the House, while the senators who voted took all the political beating for nothing. BTW, that's why not even Democrats voted for Obama's budget in the past few years.

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

How would UpChuck Schumer's base react if someone proposed a "moratorium" for abortion on demand?
