    Self registering a gun

OK, the DOJ has a form that lets you register a gun for 19 bucks. But to be legal, you are to take a gun with the original owner to a dealer for a PPT...so when are these self register forums legal to use? I would assume that if an elderly housebound neighbor wanted to gift you a gun, and couldn't leave the house, you could use this form? Or if you found ne in your attic from years ago. But it doesn't say on the form the circumstances..????

3 day waiting period???? but I'm mad now!!!!!!

If you legally own an unregistered firearm it is also legal to volreg it. The volreg form is not some kind of FFL transfer replacement for the lazy.

no, the seller would fill out the Power of Attorney form, http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/pd...earmsdecl.pdf? , to have someone act as his proxy to do the PPT at the dealer.

yes, that would be a better use of the volreg form.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

If I remember correctly you are supposed to register within thirty days. Not sure about guns you were given years ago or left to you by a deceased family member years ago. The form asks who you acquired it from, their relationship, and when.

I assume we are talking about handguns here.....since currently rifles & shotguns don't need to be registered

What about assigning a serial to an 80%?

              No requirement to report that.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

No requirement, but there are theoretical advantages.
