Len Savage story on Lew Dobbs/CNN - NFA conviction for malfunctioning Semi-Auto AR

    "Freedom under fire"
The conviction of a Wisconsin gun owner is stirring up gun advocates. CNN's Bill Tucker explains

False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.

Wow, something similar happened to me at the range before with a slam fire. I guess I'm lucky, but this makes no sense at all. I hope he is found not guilty and gets his collection back.

I have a friend who had his stock Romanian SKS and Ket Tec SU-16 confiscated about a year ago because it was decided that they were Assault Weapons. A month or so later they decided they were legal to own in CA and they still kept them. Since them that friend has moved to North Carolina.

          Is this his attorney?
"Brian Fahl - Federal Defender Svcs of Wisconsin"
A public defender was his lawyer??? The NRA should really be jumping on cases like this in the style of ACLU defense of 1st A issues. Maybe they did. I don't know. There really needs to be a LDF that takes dues and covers any legal issues arising from the exercise of "keep and bear".

Good story by CNN... I like Lou Dobbs now, since he made that comment that he supports the 2nd.....

Yeah, I remember coming across the story previously.

As much as the government is to be condemned for prosecuting this case, you got to wonder what kind of blockheads were sitting on that jury.

He was found guilty and is awaiting sentencing.

I'm writing my congressman and hope everyone else does the same! Bush should be told to pardon too. Ramos and Compion come to mind. I wonder if this guy will get a 10 year enhancement?

I've got a feeling writing my congresswoman, anna eschoo, won't do anygood; since the last townhall meeting I went to she told me anything that comes out of the united nations must be good.

This type of coersion seem's illegal.
I know this sort of thing has been going on in the courts, but how and when did it become common practice?

On CNN no less. In fact, I think I have seen a 3-4 pro-gun stories on CNN lately. Maybe there "is" hope after all.

The circumstances of this case might even cry out to an anti as an injustice...one can hope. Man...three kids, served his country and wasn't even present when the thing malfunctioned and discarged two rounds Who is this Federal Prosecutor? His or her name should be MUD!

He's already been found guilty people. Let's hope for a good appellate attorney.
