Unless all US soldiers are under some kind of mind control, I don't think they would go that far. They swear an oath to protect the constitution as well as the people. They aren't robots, they have families like you and I. I'd also go so far as to say that a lot of soldiers in the US military also have relatives who are gun owners.

Every study I've ever seen done on this topic shows the same result: the VAST majority of troops will not follow orders of this kind. And their commanding officers are even less likely to do so. Additionally if the government made this decision it would likely be done as society was in a state of collapse and many soldiers would go AWOL to be with their families.
