    A possible joint effort?

    Hey everyone, first-time poster.

I just joined CGF less than 10 minutes ago, but have been browsing for a few months after a quick google search for some gear reviews. I decided to sign up because I know that, by myself, I am just a small voice in the radical roar that is taking place. I hardly know anyone in the firearm community and do not know where to start in means to support our right. I'm tired of sitting behind a keyboard and watching all of this unfold.

So I am just throwing it out there. What can I do to help? Where can we start to voice our opinion in an effective manner? All advice is welcome.

Feel free to contact me about any meetings, discussions, and events in the Central Valley, specifically Clovis and Fresno.

    Regards,

    Matt

Welcome to Calguns! For the time-being, the best thing you can do to help is donate to the Calguns Foundation; the link is in my signature. Also, if you're not an NRA member already, I suggest you become one.

Until there is a bill (or bills), there isn't a great deal to do other than to load the advocacy groups war chest and get your name on volunteer lists. In the meantime, it's not a great idea to discuss a ton of what if's and hypothetical about said bills en utero.

FPC is launching very soon. I think you'll find it right up your alley.

If you are not a NRA member then join NRA. That's the best starting point.

If you have little money it's $10. If you have no money you can probably get a free one in the "free memberships" topic in this forum.

Most of their work is never made public.

If you have more money to give away then donate to CGF or SAF. If not, no biggie, there are other ways to help.

Hang around here for a while and eventually there will be a call to action. Do the action and that's your starting point.

I started getting back into this ~6 years ago, and now I've got a few big guys at NRA on my speed dial, have met with some politicians, attended court cases, met with lawyers, and become a volunteer firearms instructor for an org that had been around since the 70's.

Everyone has a niche, just keep your eyes open and you'll find yours.

If you are looking for an in-person discussion group, I think there is a NRA Members council in that area also.

It's a meeting where folks go over all the stuff you already read about on Calguns Kind of dull if you read Calguns like an addict, but sometimes something non-public comes up. Those are interesting...

It is a good way to meet the NRA staff also as their leadership sometimes attends.

You probably want to at least be on their mailing list so you know if someone is coming to town.

I can't post the link from my cell but it's easily googled.

That mailing list requires an active NRA membership.

In months to come you'll be able to serve by calling, writing (snail mail), and emailing your state legislators as we bring the fight against horrible new CA state gun laws that are just being proposed.

The CalGuns Wiki is a good place to start getting educated.

Your donations to CalGuns and the Second Amendment Foundation

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) is dedicated to promoting a better understanding about our Constitutional heritage to privately own and possess firearms. To that end, we carry on many educational and legal action programs designed to better inform the public about the gun control debate.

will support many court cases being fought today.

Check out the stickied threads at the top of the page here in the 2nd Amendment/Political Forum lots of info on the Legislature and the Bills they'll be bringing.

                A: Join the NRA.

B: Read what's here, think about it & carry what you see to social media. Great arguments are made here, but we're basically preaching to the choir. Getting the word out to your non-CalGuns friends can be very helpful. And, that's who all this effort is for.

                  I really appreciate the feedback.

Signed up for a 2 year NRA membership and I will be looking into other outlets to contribute.
