Oaktown is really screwed up. Its to bad, it could be a really nice place.

2 years ago at 107th and E14th I was house sitting for my brother-in-law. I woke up to gun fire outside bedroom window. It was close enough that after I dove to the floor, muzzle flashes from continuing gunfire lit up the curtains. I grabbed my shotgun which is loaded with buck shot and slugs, called the police direct number to dispatch. I told them what is going on right now.

Dispatch reply- "Do you want us to send someone out?"

My reply- "Are you f^%*ing kidding me? No its OK, they are 3 houses down shooting."

Dispatch reply- "If you want, we can send a squad car in a little while to drive through the neighborhood."

My reply- "profanity" and I hung up.

Continued shooting for another few minutes moving through the neighborhood. Me, white guy in my underwear outside watching these guys in a box Chevy shooting at someone running through the neighborhood and he is shooting back.

A few months ago my brother-in-laws house was broken into, the neighbors called the police. Police said they were very busy and won't be able to send anyone out until later. Neighbors called my brother-in-law at work. Neighbors watched for 1/2 hour while 3 guys causally loaded up their van laughing. Neighbors even told us that the burglars took a break to drink beer on the front porch.

Brother-in-law finally gets home and my wife meets him there. Brother-in-law calls the police, say they are busy, my wife calls police and tells them they have 2 disabled children at the house, police show up in half and hour. Police tell my brother-in-law that they will fill out an "Incident" report. My brother-in-law gives them the description of the van and license number that the neighbors wrote down.

      Just Great.

Now my brother-in-law is going to move in with us and foreclose on his house.

Oaktown needs a lot of change and it sure isn't happening with the status quo.

If I knew the solution I sure as hell would do something.

I hope Mr. McCullough can make a difference. I would gladly contirbute to his campaign.

Moderators, can we do a sticky on this?

Termed-out Perata may try to replace Mayor Dellums. I don't know if that's good or bad.
CCWFacts, don't you recall what he said after his state red Charger with the 22" DUBS was stolen at gunpoint. He basically reiterated his long standing gun control stance that he has had for the last 20 or so years. So, to answer your question; that's bad.

I was wondering about "good or bad" in relation to, "is Perata better or worse than Dellums." I don't know if that question is answerable, and I won't try to answer it. They're both so bad in terms of gun rights that it hurts me to contemplate it.
