I applied and successfully received my CCW in Shasta county about 18 months ago, is was issued for the entire state or "within California" as stated on the permit. Is it going to be difficult to renew now that I am in San Bernardino county and what is the process? I assumed the "hard part" was going to get it in the first place, and renewal would not be so challenging. I currently live in Victorville. Do I have to apply there first? Will I automatically be denied?

CCW Renewal Question
Collapse

When you moved you have to start the process all over again. You only have so many days after moving to notify your original issuing county that you have moved out and then you have to apply all over again following the rules of you new county of residence. It is no longer a renewal and your original isnow (or soon to be depending on how long ago you moved) null and void.
Edit - see PC 26210(c) and (e):
26210. (a) When a licensee under this article has a change of
address, the license shall be amended to reflect the new address and
a new license shall be issued pursuant to subdivision (b) of Section
26215.
(b) The licensee shall notify the licensing authority in writing
within 10 days of any change in the licensee's place of residence.
(c) If both of the following conditions are satisfied, a license
to carry a concealed handgun may not be revoked solely because the
licensee's place of residence has changed to another county:
(1) The licensee has not breached any of the conditions or
restrictions set forth in the license.
(2) The licensee has not become prohibited by state or federal law
from possessing, receiving, owning, or purchasing a firearm.
(d) Notwithstanding subdivision (c), if a licensee's place of
residence was the basis for issuance of a license, any license issued
pursuant to Section 26150 or 26155 shall expire 90 days after the
licensee moves from the county of issuance.
(e) If the license is one to carry loaded and exposed a pistol,
revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the
person, the license shall be revoked immediately upon a change of the
licensee's place of residence to another county.Last edited by peterabbits; 09-13-2012, 10:32 PM. -
Note that the relevant Code is in 26210(d):
Notwithstanding subdivision (c), if a licensee's place of
residence was the basis for issuance of a license, any license issued
pursuant to Section 26150 or 26155 shall expire 90 days after the
licensee moves from the county of issuance.

Whoops, missed that, sorry and thanks Brandon!
Edit - actually it's (b) through (e) as in (b) you need to notify in ten days, and then the rest gts more detailed as to the outcome.Last edited by peterabbits; 09-13-2012, 10:47 PM.Comment

(a) says if you have an LTC and change address, the license must be amended to show that
(b) says if you have a new address, you must notify the issuing agency within 10 days.
(c) says you can't have your LTC revoked just because you changed address
(d) says if you move out of the jurisdiction that issued the license, it expires 90 days after moving
(e) says if one has one of the rare, this-county-only OPEN carry LTC, it expires immediately when you move out of the county.
Moving from Shasta to San Bernardino with a 'regular' LTC triggers (b) and (d).
Note the implication that one should be able to get the new LTC from the new agency within the 90 days.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

OP, Victorville contracts with the Sheriffs office for police services so you are good to go. Just apply directly with the Sheriff for your permit
Their wait time is running very long right now but they routinely approve just about anyone who applies.
Personal protection is accepted as good cause here. Just round out your description as to why you want to carry. We are lucky in that our Sheriff and his team are very pro carry.Last edited by IEShooter; 09-14-2012, 8:56 AM.Comment

OP - call (909)387-3750... The gals name escapes me but the folks down at SBSD are super friendly and will help you out with any questions you may have. I believe the wait is roughly 14 months now... So be patient.Comment
