(April 2011 Oral Args Ezell mp3) Mr. Gura, what do you want your injunction to say?

    This is awesome!

SAF attorney Alan Gura argues EZELL V. CHICAGO in the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

"It wasn't a failure of laws," said Amanda Wilcox, who along with her husband, Nick, lobbies for the California chapter of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. "I just don't see how our gun laws could have stopped something like that."

You should probably changed your thread title to make it more clear what your post is about.

James Feldman is total PUTS!!! I've always loved the part where Feldman says that people who gather around shooting ranges with firearms could start fights and shoot eatchother or ther bad things can happen. Then was asked if he has ever been to a shooting range, he stated "I have not". lol... Then he was told (I forget who it was) that it's everyone who wants to put these bans have never been to these establishments in the first place....

SO damn true. All of the anti's that want to ban firearms have no clue or understand what firearm ownership is or how firearms even work...Ie. Carolyn McCarty, Leland Yee, Adam Keigwin...etc..

I liked when the judge asked "there are fights and confrontations at police ranges?"

        LOL

Yeah that was one of my favorite parts LOL What was he thinking to even say such a thing?

Just Wondering if you actually listened to the Audio Link? The thread title is an Actual quote from one of the Judges, pretty much asking for assistance to facilitate the wording of the final Judgment. It took 52 minutes and 29 seconds, just finished it.

Essentially, the Court was asking Mr. Gura to give details of the Win, so the Judges would know exactly what they were approving/signing/agreeing to. All the Judges were obviously in agreement with his(Gura's) arguments and clearly annoyed with the ill-prepared facts and irrational reasoning of the Attorney representing the City of Chicago.

I was listening to it when I saw this thread, actually. Found it via a post by the SAF on Facebook.

Had you read the second post I made in this thread you would have saw that I referenced something else stated by the lawyer arguing opposite Alan Gura.

I think retitling the post to make it more clear that the post was a link to the audio of the oral arguments was a lot more helpful to people browsing the 2A forum. Otherwise it's a just a random quote by some unknown person being delivered to (presumably) Alan Gura for reason we just don't know. Ezell Oral Audio clears that up nicely I think.

And yes, that was a great listen to.

Guys. This is OLD. The morals were posted MONTHS ago. Remember how the judges ruled in our favor and the case was remanded to district? SAF is just confusing people by posting the morals on Twitter. Nothing new here.

Is this the same recording we all listened to back in April?

I listened to that audio when it was first released, and I still listen to it to this day (sometimes, 2 or 3 times per month), as I do with the other 2A case orals, including the Nordyke orals.

Gura's quick and cool responses to Judge Posner and CCJ Easterbrook are nothing less than extraordinarily outstanding.

Various Circuit Courts have links to audio of oral arguments, and those arguments can be accessed. It sure is nice to be a line haul driver.

                          Erik.

Hate to add onto an "old news" thread, but...

Not to take anything away from Gura, but judges often ask the prevailing party to draft the proposed order. That kind of delegation saves the judge a ton of time. If the judge doesn't like something in the proposed order, he tweaks it. If the judge *really* doesn't like it... well, he drafts his own and doesn't ask you to draft the order next time.

So asking the prevailing part to draft a proposed order is pretty much SOP as long as the decision is clear and there aren't a bunch of side issues to muddy the waters.
