Transporting Handgun no trunk?

So I am thinking I want to transport my handguns with me in my vehicle. But I want to make sure I comply while traveling and also going through a school GFZ. Here are a few questions.

1. Would the Springfield case my firearm came in suffice as a locked case? (If I attach an appropriate lock)
2. I am pretty sure but I can transport the magazine loaded outside of the firearm itself?
3. The vehicle I drive has a hidden seat storage, can I just place the locked container in there?
4. If no to the above, what is the best safe or lockable storage box for quick access in a pinch?

So long as the gun is unloaded and the case is locked - not key-in-lock-just-waiting-to-be-turned - carry that case wherever you like in your car.

Thanks for the reply. Does biometric locks make any difference as it pertains to the law?
