The real crime here is that our 2A is supposed to protect arms like these, but now the marine who had a piece of history will get free room and board for the next 10 years because our gov't is tyrannical in its grasp to control citizen's ability to exersize their 2A.

        The gov't is our enemy.

Yeah, he knew the rules and failed the IQ test, but you dont find it the least bit tragic that this kind of activity is banned when our constitution expressly allows it?

        SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED

The fail isn't in the possession, but in not hiding it well enough.

In the old days it would of been considered a war trophy and people would of been patting him on the back instead of trying to jail him. Looks like the government is more of an enemy to him instead of the Iraqi's. We live in a upside down society.
Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

chrome-plated AK-47 that may have once belonged to a member of Saddam Hussein's royal guard. now if thats not a war trophy i don't know what is. i met a guy that brought home a luger from a surrendering German officer.used to be no big deal, now its felonious crime.

More armed citizens = Quicker response times, less victims.

Guns should only be surrendered one bullet at a time.

Dammit. Now instead of being an awesome piece in a museum somewhere, it'll be melted down by the bloody police.

What are the modern laws/policies regarding war trophies anyway? (Assume for the sake of argument that said trophies are not capable of automatic fire.)

The last I heard is zero tolerance. They are not allowed at all.

It says right in the article, "Miller was not convicted of transporting the weapon from Iraq."

He was convicted of possession of a machine gun. I'm assuming it was full-auto. So this has nothing to do with coming home with a "war trophy". He got CAUGHT with a fully automatic AK. How stupid do you have to BE to put yourself in a position to get CAUGHT WITH A MACHINE GUN?

What's not to believe? The guy was a thief and an idiot. Criminal stupidity should be prosecuted.
