If forcing people to provide micro stamp or tool mark evidence for every firearm they own isn't a violation of the constitution surely it is similarly ok to force everyone to provide DNA and fingerprint samples.Comment

I was reading Adam Winkler's book "Gunfight", and in the first chapters the book discusses how the city council of Washington D.C. knew their city gun ban wouldn't be effective at stopping crime.Nevertheless they passed the ban, hoping to 'inspire' the nation to do the same for their cities. Thankfully that didn't turn out as planned, but the point of that incident is this:the Disarmament Lobby believes the goal of a total ban is so noble that anything that can be done to achieve it, should be done. The point of the microstamping law is to find another way to inhibit gun sales to civilians without an explicit ban;using New York's bill as an example their law is written in such a way that Gunbroker and Bud's Gun Shop are effectively outlawed, as are out of state private gun sales. NY's proposal basically says no microstamp,no dealer can receive a gun.The more prohibitions you have, the less virtuous people will be.
The more subsidies you have, the less self reliant people will be.

The 1911 may have been in wars for 100 years, but Masetro Bartolomeo Beretta was arming the world 400 years before John Browning was ever a wet dream.Comment
