question on working at a gun store

hi, I didn't know if this is the right place to post this, but anyways...I am 16 years old and want to work at my local gun store. I know a lot about guns and am getting to know the manager good etc.my question is on atf's website they say in order for a person under 18 to sell a firearm they have to have the parents consent, and then it is legal.. but it also says moreover the states law must not prohibit the individual from possessing firearms or ammunition. Does this apply in CA? or am I okay?
    thanks, Evan

    In CA...
You need to be 18 or older.

Believe me when I tell you that the two years between ages 16 and 18 will be gone in the blink of an eye. I'm 23 years old and I still feel about 12.

In the meantime, hang out here on Calguns and learn lots of stuff. Also, get a job waiting tables or making coffee, or something else that involves customer service.

That way, when you turn 18 and get a job at a gun store, you won't resemble many gun store employees, who erroneously believe that they know all there is to know about gun laws, and are completely unfamiliar with the concept of attending to customers and making sure they have what they want.

I don't know the laws but maybe you can legally work at the store if you only clean the store etc. and don't handle ammo and weapons.

Focus on school first. Trust me, food service is not fun and i hate my job in a restaurant. The service industry is a great way to get experience but from my experience is not something you would want to do for the rest of your life. Also keep on the straight and narrow if you want a job at a gun store. no drugs, alcohol, stupid ideas that could get you a criminal record. Glad you want to join the workforce! Good luck

I just got a job at a gun store, the law is 18 to be employed there, whether you're sweeping the floors or selling guns. Most owners wouldn't want to risk their FFL. I agree with the other guys, finish up high school, work at a local shop doing something that involves customer service, and than go get a job at the gun store when ur 18
