Featureless conversion kits are still conversion kits they will also be illegal.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong. I really really hope I am wrong.

Anyone in possession of a conversion kit will be charged with a misdemeanor and forced to surrender their firearm without compensation. This is my understanding after reading the bill over and over because I could not believe what I was reading. This is a very dangerous bill to gun owners.

You are way out on a limb here.

Exactly, the bill per se says nothing about what AR are insinuating. It is really unclear of what it really does. I think this is done purposely, just to get it passed the assembly\senate\governor. Language will be added prior to it being a law which will then reveal what the bill really is. This is the phantom menace.

that's the problem with SB249, no one, not even Yee can tell anyone what it does in its current form. He claims it has been amended so that it only attacks the mag magnet. But it does not really do that. Read my response above regarding the mag magnet and the .22LR upper. The bill as it is written bans a "conversion kit" that solely and exclusively converts a semi automatic rifle into an assault weapon. The mag magnet does not really fit. As many here have argued...plus what if I bought one of this magnets to put my kids art work on the fridge? Would I then be in violation of SB249??? Do you now get the confusion?

I wouldn't worry about selling the AR you just bought. I bought one recently as well. My plan, if the bill passes, is to keep my AR in the safe and buy as much 5.56 ammo as I can, and wait for one of three events to happen. 1. My move out of CA. 2. CGF Get the law ruled as Unconstitutional. 3. SHTF.

Until then, I will lend every possible resource I have to fighting the bill!

I forgot to meantion, I will also be buying many many more other types of guns in the mean time...

As I said, I believe it is done on purpose. Don't feel bad at all. No one really understands it. What most likely will happen should it pass the Appropriations CMTE, the General Assembly and the senate is that it will be augmented/amended as the confidence of it actually passing gets to be more of a reality. This is likely when Kamila Harris foine arse will be intervening along with the DOJ to provide language on the actual real intent of banning the rifle all together not some "conversion kit". But they will either have to do cash for your guns and/or make you register, ala part deuce of the "assault weapons" registration if you already own one. It is unlikely however that it will get here since it is the number one selling firearm in the state. We really don't know - that's why it has to either get lost in limbo or outright die!

i think the problem is the origin and intent of the original gut and amended SB249. Yee, while scratching his nuts in front of the toob, saw a news cast about AR's at Jackson Arms. Being a true libtard, through and through, plus having dreams of an independent, communist California- okay I made that up...he then decides to pen a bill. To get it in and out as a law faster, preferably before he is termed out in 29 months, he took an aggy bill that just passed the senate and removed all the aggy talk and added big talk about assault rifles and conversion kits - per the KPIX broadcast.

Of course, no one in the Yee camp, including his chief of staff, Alex Keigwin, did any kind of research, since even the most mundane and easiest Google search would have lead them to vital information needed to write a coherent bill. So instead they used the force, since Yee is convinced he is a Jedi and is strong with the force - yeah, I made that up too...after all he just lead a campaign that burned millions of our tax dollars on a foolish and unsuccessful attempt at banning violent video games - since he sucks at MW3 and Battlefield and prefer Farmville...

So Yee, et Al had a bill that they felt was well written and ready to go. I think a political sprite must have talked to him a few days before it was going in front of the Public Safety committee, which was chaired by Tom Ammiano, a fellow Libtard and SF lawmaker, he decided to amend it so, in his mind it would be easier to sell to gun owners. This is when he claimed that it only bans the mag magnet.

Fast Forward to the day of the Colorado massacre, the Aurora one, he is back on the news and Twitter talking about, see this is why we need laws like SB249. What? To ban elusive and undefined conversion kits? Of course not, this is now hinting on what it is really going to try to do. As CGF, et Al has predicted, "Yee wants your guns."

I thought I read that here somewhere...it is one of the defenses against a possible AR(style) ban, if it came to that. Something about some SCOTUS decision...

Exactly. Then why are you spreading FUD? Go back and re-read your post.

In previous post, you're 100% sure what this bill is and then you back pedal with this - "It is very hard to get accurate info on the bills meaning"

Farrier, if he was spreading FUD, it was unintentional in my opinion. I say go easy on the guy. Blame it on Yee!! He wrote a ****ty bill which confuses people and as Milton said, he fell into the FUD trap with everyone talking about different things about this bill. He went by his understanding. He has since found his way - it does not always have to be confrontational.
