    Last minute CCW tips

    Obviously, this forum is centered around California, but I will be traveling to Utah soon.

    I have a two questions:

    Can I LCC on my person while passing through Nevada (not in Clark County)?
    Can I LCC in Bryce Canyon (National Park)?

    I was invited last minute so I'm just trying to get quick answers..

    You need to check the laws of those states. Both require LTCs for concealed carry

          From the link to Bryce Canyon National Park:

          Firearms in the parks

          On February 22, 2010, a new federal law allows people who can legally possess firearms under applicable federal, state, and local laws, to legally possess firearms in this park. The Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009, was enacted May 22, 2009 and will became effective February 22, 2010. Section 512 of this law; Protecting Americans from Violent Crimes, supersedes the uniform treatment of firearm possession in the national park system outside Alaska under the regulations found at 36 C.F.R. 2.4.

          It is the responsibility of visitors to understand and comply with all applicable state, local, and federal firearms laws before entering this park. Firearms may not be discharged in this national park and should not be used as a wildlife protection strategy.

          Federal law also prohibits firearms in certain facilities in this park (such as visitor centers, government offices, etc.); those places are marked with signs at all public entrances.

          Utah Overview

          Open Carry Allowed

          Handgun = Yes

          Rifle = Yes

          In Vehicle = Yes

          Age Requirement = None

          Concealed Weapon - Permit Required

          Person = Yes

          Vehicle = Yes

          State Reciprocity = 33 states

          Age Requirement = 21 years of age

          Hope this helps

            In NV you will need a license to conceal carry, do you have a license?

              If you have a valid California LTC, you're able to Carry concealed in Utah as they honor the California permit. Nevada does NOT honor the California permit. If you don't have a California permit, you'll need a non-resident permit for Nevada or Utah.

                If you think that you will ever want to carry (when traveling outside Kalifornia), you should apply for Utah, Arizona, and Florida. They are all easy to get, as they are shall issue, and none of them are expensive. For Florida, your prints have to be rolled by a LE agency, but even that isn't hard. Then you can carry in about 40 states (just not your own). I always suggest doing this BEFORE you need it, as it takes time to process. As it stands now, you're stock with locked unloaded, or open, or in Arizona, a vermont (unliscensed) carry. Read up on the laws before you go though. Hangunlaw.us is a great place to start. Good luck!!!

                  In NV... (NV has a firearm preemption law, so this applies throughout NV)...

                  You can not conceal carry, unless you have a valid CCW permit.

                  So, you will need a non-resident NV CFP or a valid CCW permit from Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Rhode Island, South Carolina or West Virginia.

                  However...

                  It is legal to open carry a loaded handgun.

                  It is also legal to have a loaded handgun in your vehicle as long as it is not concealed upon your person.
                  Concealed upon your person includes being in a portable container (bag/purse/case/etc).
                  So, it is legal for a loaded handgun to be in your vehicle's glove/utility compartment, under your seat, on the seat next to you, on the dashboard, etc. But, not legal if it's concealed on you, concealed under you (you sitting on it) or in a portable container (bag/case/etc).
