Is this legal? - iTac APC-Standard Pistol/Carbine adapter

I want to get this for my pistol.

iTAC Defense

1) Is it legal? It has no buttstock and no fore grip. Just a fancy shell for a pistol.

2) Any risk of owning if it IS legal? As in would any law enforcement question it, IE sometimes people get in trouble for legal AR pistols.

3) Why do I want it? Honestly I dont know, i probably wont buy it but would like to know either way. With no stock its a nice 3-4 pound pointless accessory but would def be a cool to have.

Legal or not I would rather spend that same 350 on another gun then make one stupid heavy for no real gain...

Might be considered a barrel shroud...

One advantage I can see is help with recoil. I am getting ready to go through a second cervical spine surgery, and one thing that prevents me from shooting a lot is the recoil. Having multiple points on my body seems like it should help. Though, I am not sure I am willing to pay $350 to find out...
