    Police report sufficient?

My coworkers father was robbed. In addition to other valubles in the home his handgun was taken. Is the police report sufficient to satisfy the report of the stolen handgun or is there additional paperwork required by the CA DOJ BOF? I seem to recall something about it needing to be reported within 48 hours.

At this time, there is no requirement for reporting stolen firearms unless you are an FFL. Hopefully he had the serial number so it can be put in the system as stolen.

to answer your question yes it is sufficient, and even if you do not have the serial number the officer can look you up by your name/DOB and find it.

Only if the handgun was registered.
