    Traveling from CA to OH

I'm going to be moving from CA to OH for some time and I wanted to know if there is anything special I need to know about transporting my firearms? I'm thinking of just keeping them unloaded, in the trunk with the magazines in another box. I am bringing a bolt rifle, an old handgun and maybe my .22.

How are the laws in OH? Do I need to re-register them?

Put them in locked cases and sthu about them. When you get there, or before, ask the Ohio Gendarmes what to do.

Ohio is lovely this time of year. The rest of the time............not so much.

all good I will still come visit

Cali weather is unmatched, but its unaffordable to live here if you are young and starting out. About the only people who are living comfortably are people who bought homes in the 70s and 80s...

Ohio humidity drove me away from home! I grew up in Chillicothe place is a crap hole!
On a side note visit the theme parks! Also deer hunting is good but only shotgun and pistol for guns.

What part are you moving to?

Moving to the Cleveland area. I'm okay with humidity and heat, I just don't know if I'm going to be able to shovel my car out of snow every morning...

I can't register my .308 there? Should I leave it in CA? I love this thing Are there any shooting ranges there?

There is no registration of guns in Ohio. What are you talking about?

Get an Ohio ID asap the "gun-show loophole" is amazing. Also a lot of people use ARMSlist.com it's the craigslist of guns. No gun reg. for normal guns, you can use normal mags and no mag device. They have a 2 in 30 handgun law I believe. that's if you go through a dealer.

Try some skyline chili it's amazing also cat-fishing is pretty good through-out the state.

Also you will need to get in the know for mushroom hunting, morels are amazing!!!!

My Top reason's I would move back to Ohio:
                    Buckeye's
                    Gun Law's
                    Morels
                    Hunting and fishing.
                    Green grass and cornfields
                    4 season's

My Top reason's to stay away:
                    Humidity
No Rifles for deer hunting unless you get a depredation permit
Education (my spelling and grammar are horrid)
                    Speed limit's strictly enforced!!!
Profiling of lisc. Plates you will get pulled over soon after you drive in w/ outta state plates.

I miss Ohio a lot sometimes. Mostly during spring and fall.
I always say Ohio's a great place to be from.

Damn so I should change my plates asap? Also its that serious with the speed limits? My friend told me under no circumstance should I speed and I should ALWAYS drive below the speed limit. Is this for real? My car will have Cali plates for a long time, I might actually move back I dont want to re-register my car.

Dude its beyond serious about the speed limits. I managed to get 2 tickets in a months time a couple years ago. I had an Escort radar detector at the time, and they use the heck out of lasers, and *everywhere*.

The city formerly known as 'new rome' aka the biggest speedtrap in the nation for years is/was right outside columbus fwiw.

One cool thing-lots of state parks have shooting ranges, and I think it's $24 a year for a pass.

Oh and I also had some cop flip out on me over my new car having no plates on it, just the window registration. I'm still POd about that.

Ohio has a lot of positives. I just wish employment were one of them.

Oh and as a guy that had his car impounded because I never changed my driver's license within 30 days here in california, definitely check into the time frames required for that stuff. Don't be stupid like me.

Oh and gun shows in the JC Pennys of an abandoned mall rock! Norincos, thumbhole stocks, tracer ammo, normal cap mags, and I believe it was cash and carry. Very cool. No beef jerky for sale either.

Man I thought Cali was bad...wtf is this.
