Can I ship guns to myself across state lines?

I am frequently out of state on business so it would be easy to walk into a Cabella's in Omaha and pickup a Mossberg 590 and mail it home. But will there be officers waiting there with the package?

You can ship one you already own; but you cannot buy one out of state.
Federal law says you can only buy one out of state following your own state's laws. CA law says 10 days and a CA dealer, so SOL.

Regardless of them standing there, you'd've still likely comitted a crime.

If you are a CA resident (and not also a resident of the other state with the rare dual-residency status), you can't buy a gun in that state without running it thru a CA FFL).

Also, Cabela's is too smart to sell you a gun with a CA ID. So, no, it would not be easy to buy it there.

You can ship guns that you already own to yourself in other states.

If you are going hunting in another state you can ship your guns to an address there in your name rather than trust them to the airlines.

Another option is going to Cabelas and have them ship the firearm to your FFL here, which most likely won't be cheaper in the end.

Why don't you just walk into a local store and buy the same gun? You won't be able to purchase the gun out of state without that state's drivers license UNLESS you have the gun that you bought out of state shipped directly from the seller to a local FFL (in CA) thereby adding shipping expenses and transfer fees.

              What about a gift?

My uncle (who lives in Missouri) recently gave me a shotgun that used to be my grandfather's. He still has it in Missouri and is waiting for me to come and get it.
How would I go about getting it back here? I don't think the shotgun (classified as a long gun) is even registered or required to be registered to anyone in MO, since you can purchase and take home long guns the same day in that state. My guess is that I'd still have to ship it to a CA FFL to keep it a legal process according to Commiefornian law. Anyone dealt with a simliar issue or any suggestions?

I may be asking the same question twice. If so, I apologize. I'm sure my question's not that unique, I'd just like to hear from someone who's done this before.

              Thanks

P.S. It could even be a C&R, in that case the solution is obvious, I just don't know yet!?
