The second best way to stop the war against gun owners

    Divide and conquer.

The antis gained ground when pro gun groups were overwhelmed by the number of anti gun initiatives that were taking place. Even states like Texas were passing gun control laws while most residents here are pro gun.

We have taken over this tactic and now that we are organized we are using it against them. There are so many pro gun initiatives here in Texas and many other states that the anti gun people have become overwhelmed, divided and on the defensive.

You need to apply this tactic in California to the max. CGF and the help they provide gun owners is good. I know there is a pro CHL group and pro open carry group. Everyone should support all pro gun movements and look for more pro gun movements they can join or back. How about a pro hunting group, campus carry and movements to abolish the gun registration schemes.

Can y'all list all of the pro gun initiatives in California and post a link to information about them?

I don't believe divide and conquer would work effectively here. The harder we publicly push, the harder the gun control activists will push back. The UOC protests and Portantino's upcoming ban on UOC of long guns is arguably a perfect example of that. The current apathy, and ignorance, of the gun control activists is our ally here.

Overwhelming pro-gun initiatives would be met by overwhelming opposition from gun control activists, would likely fail, and would spawn overwhelming anti-gun initiatives. As it stands, CGF and SAF are working diligently to craft near-unbeatable legal arguments in near-ideal cases to pull on the loose threads of gun control until it unravels. Adding an overwhelming number of new threads for CGF and SAF to unravel, or tying the web tighter, is the last thing we want to do, in my opinion.

Hey... How's El Paso these days? We have our own divide and conquer strategies in place (mostly in the form of court challenges to anti-gun laws).

I do agree with your point that most pro-gun groups should back each other up. However, there are certain ones that insist on provoking our oponents.

          The Sleepers will/are awakening.

Sometime in the Past we lost the majority of public support.

We seem to be getting it back.

All their laws will be meaningless if we get the majority of public support back. People are realizing the truth that weapon bans much like drug/alcohol bans do not work.

              You want to win?

Take everybody you can to the range. Especially the people on the fence about guns, and even anti's if you can get them to go. Get the anti's lies and propaganda out of their heads, show them responsible gun ownership and safety, and the fact that guns don't kill people.

YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES.

100% agree. I've never taken anyone shooting who didn't afterwards soften considerably if not completely come over to our side. AND DON'T LEAVE OUT THE LADIES!! Most of the antis or fence sitters I've converted have been women. Guys tend to be more pro-gun.

Sound logic from the Great State of Texas (Hook 'Em).

However, those of living here in upside down land are living through "Obama's Second Term". We have to use the courts to get the lawmakers and law enforcers to obey the law. Hard to get much more upside down than that.

You may be right but here in Texas when we were pushing for pro gun laws, the chl on campus law was under attack in part by anti gun groups in California and other states because they know that if chl on campus passes in Texas it will spread around the country. While they were distracted with chl on campus we passed a law that requires employers to respect employee privacy of private vehicles in parking lots. The truth is the divide and conquer method needs to be applied solidly to all the states. If you want to pass concealed carry with ease, have four or five other bills being pushed at the same time and the concealed carry bill will pass because they'll be busy trying to kill some other bill they consider more threatening.

Here are some ideas for california:

guns in vehicles in employee parking lots
                        loaded open carry
                        shall issue concealed carry
                        constitutional carry
                        chl on campus
chl in bars that serve alcohol
                        eliminate no gun zones
abolish the registration system for firearms
                        abolish the wait period
                        abolish the AWB
                        abolish the acceptable gun list

If there was a solid attempt to pass each of these each cycle eventually some would pass and even if they did not it would likely eliminate the anti-gun bills while the anti-gun groups are struggling just to keep up. Imagine the fight they'd put up against an attempt to abolish the registration system how much of their resources would be spent on just that.

The giant has already awakened. The most important anti-gun group has 35,000 members while a small pro gun group like GOA has 650,000 members. It's time you stop allowing the astro turf in your state to control the state government. If every gun owner in California got involved and you started pushing pro gun bills every year you would get things under control there.
