Ryburn v Huff, 2012 Supreme Court ruled this ok....?

"Officers justified in invading home without warrant, court rules"

U.S. Supreme Court says Burbank officers investigating a rumor that a student was planning to 'shoot up' his high school were justified in invading his home without a warrant because of concerns that violence was imminent.
so now if some begrudged neighbor/anti-gunner wrote an anonymous note and sent it in to police that a person with a gun "might" go on a rampage, cops can and will enter your home without warrant and arrest you until it gets sorted out. time to get tougher doors and windows.

This is a unanimous SCOTUS decision.

      Link to the court's opinion:

        Thank you for the link.

I'm not entirely comfortable with the result, but I agree with the decision.

When one of the officers called Maria Huff on her cellphone to inform her that they were outside, she came out with her son to talk to the officers. She declined to invite them in, and when asked if there were guns in the house, she rushed back inside.
This was not exactly an unjustified search. When the officers asked her if she had guns in the house and she rushed back inside, *I* would have viewed that as a potential threat.

Read through the document. I agree with the court.

Wasn't the California Supremes, it was the highest court in the land.

                          What is an "unsigned" decision?

For all of you who agree with this decision, you may want to check what side you are on. A warrant take less than 15 minutes to get in this state so what exactly was the reason for violating the sovereignty of the home? If you don't get it THE POLICE LIE all the time. So from this point forward, the police can just MAKE S*** UP and come into peoples home. Anonymous letter, furtive movements, action that are suspicious, etc. etc. Welcome to the police state, that which we feared has become us.

Some wording that I found concerning was...

"The panel majority did not heed the district court's wise admonition that judges should be cautious about second-guessing a police officer's assessment, made on the scene, of the danger presented by a particular situation,"

That appears to provide quite a bit of lattitude to me, however I have not read the ruling.
