I really can't understand why the other candidates don't beat him mercilessly on the 2nd Amendment. It's so easy, so obvious. They're having really come up with some absurd other stuff to say instead. This is like how they held back on the current White House occupant--WHY?!?? They should have destroyed him.

I dont get it either - - considering his record on the 2nd. The guy is pure political animal, and for that reason I dont trust him.

I'm getting sick of the GOA claiming that because some politician didn't fill out THEIR survey, somehow they are stonewalling the entire gun owning community. The hubris is laughable.

NO. They are being ignored because they are a largely irrelevant, hyperbole-spewing gun rights organization that makes the NRA's chicken-little prognostications seem measured and temperate. They exaggerate EVERY point, stretching it way beyond credibility to the point of comedy, and then whine when they aren't taken seriously.

And no, I don't trust Romney either. Ron Paul is the only candidate who tells the truth 100% of the time, even when he knows it won't serve him.

The Second Amendment is the one right that is so fundamental that the inability to exercise it, should the need arise, would render all other rights null and void. Dead people have no rights.

            It doesn't matter.

            Romney will *never* be elected.
Obama will have a FEAST with him.

The desperate women of liberal counties are not into stiff looking white men. They're not yet disgusted enough with 0bama because the economy isn't destroyed enough to hit their shopping pocketbooks, and minorities have made *huge* strides with this idiot. 89% of all immigrant applicant apps are being approved. The unions are having a field day, and he slimed in another two key appointments during a non existent recess.

            Romney will NEVER win.

He's a Mormon, and the liberated girls would rather listen to the pandering of the MSM regarding their sexuality and freedom than be told what to do by some uptight religious conservative white guy. They'd elect a WOMAN, a democrat, a traitor, an adulterer, one with no morals, an atheist, a dog....before they're in the mood to elect a conservative white guy again.
            On hold....

The worst part is that so many Obama supporters (I have them in my family) are fully disillusioned with him, but there isn't a solid candidate running from the other side... We have a great chance here, but the primary has become a joke, the candidates are so absurd, these people are going to vote for Obama again because they can't fathom the result of voting against him.

Nearly 1 billion will be spent to destroy whoever the republicans nominate !

Brought to you courtesy of the folks who gave you Justice's Sotomayer and Kagan!

BTW attacking GOA would be more effective with at least one example of their inaccuracy!

If Romney won't be elected, then none of the others have a prayer either. Remember the general electorate is not made up of Cal Gunners who would rather go down in flames convinced of their ideological purity (gee, sounds just like another doomed political movement)

So who's left? Santorum? He won't last past South Carolina at best. Paul? Sorry, he's verging on being an octogenarian who has no discernable leadership skills or notable political accomplishments. He's essentially a right wing version of Obama except 30 years older. In other words, a joke. Gingrich - I remember this guy from the last time around when he was forced to resign in disgrace as Speaker of the House; a serial adulterer who had the balls to lead the charge on Clinton on the issue. He has been correctly described as "a human hand greande with the pin pulled" and as having "the personality of an angry badger" (which we are starting to see shine through). Both these guys are bright but undisciplined idea men. They are useful to spur the debate but are not a good fit for the job and the country knows it.

I think Romney can win, but the economic tide is beginning to roll in Obama's favor and his billion dollar war chest is daunting to anyone. I don't thin k the Morman thing is going to be an issue, but the Dem dirty tricks squad will try to stir it up in the Bible Belt. glbtrottr is on to one thing though, there is a generational aspect to presidential elections that Republicans never seem to figure out. Every time the Dems put up a young, glib, telegenic candidate, the Republicans throw up someone's cranky old grandpa retread politcian and get their butts kicked. When its the boomers turn, you can't run someone from the WWII or Silent generations and win. They can run someone younger than Obama or someone a few years older but in the same generational cohort, but nobody older than that. Think about Clinton v. both Bush I and Dole and Obama v. McCain. Their time to lead has passed. I'm not saying it's right or even rational, but that's how it works in this country.

I totally agree GOA has destroyed their credibility and relevance by their hysterical and confrontational tone

Professionally speaking, there is definitely a bit of sexual tension in that post.

The best way to show the lunacy of GOA would be to post ANY of their emails. I haven't added them to the spam filter because they are rather amusing.

C.S. Lewis once observed, "Once we allow people to start spiritualizing and refining, or as they might say 'deepening' the sense of the word Christian...it will become a useless word....It is not for us to say who, in the deepest sense, is or is not close to the spirit of Christ. We do not see into men's hearts. We cannot judge...It would be wicked arrogance for us to say that any man is, or is not, a Christian."
