    chicago+handgun while traveling question

i plan on going to Indiana in july for a week vacation and i usual got gunshop and pawn shop hunting for c&r's when i go on vacation.
i will fly in to and out of chicago midway airport, can i carry a handgun in a locked case without getting arrested for possession without a foid??shouldn't it be protected by the travel clause or something???

or would i need to do a major dis-assembly of the gun(s)??

Should be - emphasize 'should' - protected if you pick up and go directly to Indiana.

Except for convenience in packing, no point in disassembling guns - unless you reduce the frame to powder or other tiny bits, the serial-numbered frame or receiver remains a firearm.
