OK, can we at least ask this of our legislature...

OK, I'm not asking anything crazy here, not to repeal the AWB, not to allow open carry, not even asking for insta-check....

Can we ask, even be bold enough to demand en masse, that our legislature make the gun laws more understandable...PLEASE!!! The different sections overlap, are so extensive, and have so many obscure sections that I can't keep them straight. They are conflicting in some sections, and can inadvertently make law abiding people criminals because some sections you may not know about. Not to mention, when I went to some different FFL's, they all had different answers to issues, and didn't even know about other laws. I'm supposed to be an expert in this, and have finally thrown my arms up in frustration.

At the very least can they please do some actual education for the public.

I believe that was the stated intent of the renumbering which was effective the first of this year. I don't think its proving to be very successful though.

Yeah they could do that. No fire arms allowed for mortals.

            Full of fail.

Now that the code is renumbered it is no more clear than it was with the original numbers... and I cant accurately cite the subsections.

Sometimes the law defends plunder and participates in it. Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim -- when he defends himself -- as a criminal. Bastiat

You obviously don't understand how our lawmakers work.

They think, if they made laws we could understand, we wouldn't need them any more.

They'd be out of a job! (strike that! *career*)

I still haven't taken the time to read through much of it yet but the few sections I've read have given me that same impression.

Just as well ask them to fly, while you're at it.

                    The renumbering is incrementally better...

You don't understand: they do this on purpose. The intent is to make gun ownership so difficult that most people give up. I note that the only people I know who own guns in CA are die-hard, rabid, pro-second amendment types who are willing to go to any lengths in order to acquire their firearms of choice. Of course, the question is, are the confusing laws working to keep all but the die-hards away from the guns, or are the confusing laws pissing people off so that they end up becoming die-hard, rabid, pro-second amendment advocates?

I suspect that the latter is more true than not.

Just the other day I said I was almost to the point of saying gun ownership wasn't worth the hassle anymore.

Record numbers of gun sales and new gun owners, unclear and unconstitutional laws which SCOTUS could knock out at any moment making nearly every one of those people an instant felon, an extremely organized, educated, communicative, and litigious firearms community (calguns), and a state that barely has enough money to fight back.

IMHO, we are nearing a massive tipping point. I think something BIG is going to happen in the next two years.

Since the meltdown in 2007 I have watched all my coworkers go from utopian anti's to buying guns, ammo, gold, and survival supplies.

It only took one or two people in the office to get everyone else to start thinking about it, and then the floodgates opened, people started to go to the range together, etc.

Instead of giving up on gun ownership, your goal should be to put a Mosin into the hands of every law abiding person you know.

General rule is, you can ask your representatives anything you want. Whether they'll listen or take the time to respond instead of using a canned reply is another matter entirely.

What is scary is that even tho you comply with the law, you might get a cop who mis-interprets the law, due to it being so confusing. Then, thousands of dollars in legal fees, you are free to go. Our legislature should be ashamed of themselves.
