Out of state intrafamilial transfer question.

My father would like to transfer me his p32 pistol, he lives in Arkansas and I am currently stationed here in Cal. I am 19 years old , so my question is there any way for him to ship it to me, or could we go through an FFL? I am new at this, so thanks for the help in advanced.

since you are under 21, you can't use an FFL to transfer it to you. Are you an Arkansas resident? If so, you should be able to just pick it up when you go visit him.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

If Dad had given you the handgun while in AR and before you reported to CA, you could have brought it with you.

If you're stationed in CA on 'permanent' orders, Feds think you're a CA resident for gun purposes.

If your orders are NOT permanent, then for gun purposes Feds will think you are a resident someplace else. If 'someplace else' is AR, you can follow Arkansas rules about the handgun transfer, when you are back in Arkansas.

Shipping interstate, AR resident to CA resident, would require running it through an FFL, and FFLs are prohibited from transferring handguns to under-21, both by CA and by Federal law.
