Which is why it is such a hard battle that we will ultimately not win.

The left wants more people they can lump under entitlement programs and ensure a strong voting base, and the right wants cheap labor and added support for the drain on Social Security by legalizing transient workers to get them away from the "under the table" payroll.
Also, La Raza does not support having more illegals, but would like to see immigration reform where most illegals are legalized.
    The burro and the carrot.
Just like when Reagan offered amnesty in 1986. That was not the end of the problem... it was the beginning of a much larger wave of illegal immigration as word spread that the US was "forgiving" illegal entry.

Eliminate the carrot and the burro stops moving.
LaRaza wants a bigger bag of carrots.
But that's completely OT anyway - not sure how the subject managed to creep into this thread.
Tim's opposition to "The Dream Act" is the direct cause of his death threats which prompted him to carry without an LTC which created the situation.
The Dream Act is simply another carrot.

The Assemblyman gets cited and released while the common folk get arrested.
